Everything Relates.

Applying Motor-Head Lifestyle to Life itself.

A picture of my wife and dog enjoying the snow (and me) at our local park a couple of winters ago. Count how many things need to be maintained in this picture?

On the back seat of my truck there is this thick twill cover designed for dogs. Being a dog owner, it is natural to have dog hair on it. I mean, what the hell is my furry friend supposed to do?! But when there is a layer of dog hair on the floor and in the door’s side pocket, it’s gone too far. There’s also some change in the passenger’s side cup holder and a receipt or two in the center console and the driver’s side rubber floor mat has dirt and gravel from daily walks with the dog on the trail. This is the current state of my truck. And it doesn’t make it very inviting to step inside, almost as if it’s been neglected. But I like my truck. I just completed all fluid change on my truck back in June. Shouldn’t that be enough? No. There are multi-part systems of anything in life. From complex phones to relationships. The best way of rekindling this pride of ownership is taking some time to give it some maintenance. In this case, a thorough interior cleaning. Unlike your phone, you don’t own your wife, your parents or your friends, but you do own their relationship.

If I vacuumed up all the dirt and dog hair, cleaned all the interior glass (nose prints from you know who…). This is what I would consider a standard cleaning. But what if I wiped down all the plastic and interior trim with an interior cleaner such as Mother’s Rubber-Vynil-Plastic (good smell) or Griot’s Vinyl and Rubber Dressing (no smell, but doesn’t off-gas onto the windows). And applied a leather product to the seats. How much more inviting would it be? So inviting that you may be looking for a reason to grab your wife and dog, and go for a drive.

If everything is relative. And if how we do anything is how we do everything. Does having a clean exterior and a dirty interior of a vehicle mean you as a person, looks like someone who has it together, but is a total mess on the inside? What if you have cooling issues? Does this suggest you may be hot headed? Does cleaning the inside of my truck mean that I will have an organized mind and/or a pure soul? Let’s see? I am willing to bet that it’s not a one and done.
