Destination-Less Life 2.0
If you’ve heard David Goggins in an interview, read his books or listen to his audio books. You may think he is a little extreme. Although, as time goes on, I’m learning that he is more wise than extreme. Goggins talks about “Perform without purpose”. This is performing without a reason. Most of us have a reason why we do (perform) things, for loved ones and/or a passion. For me, it’s motorcycle track days. It’s why I want to become healthier, wealthier, wiser and overall a better man. My immediate family also benefits from this! So much of my everyday routines are dedicated to becoming faster and safer on track. If you were to remove track days from my life, would it take the wind out of my sails? You and I already know the answer to that. This is where performing without purpose comes in. Goggins says you have to perform without purpose, because even without a purpose, life may ask you to perform unexpectedly. Would you be ready? I and a lot of us are not there yet. If you lost the wind in your sails, would you still perform?
In my journey of losing weight, I have realized that it is so much easier to stay under my calorie limit when I exercise. Walking the dog, even at a seventeen and a half minute mile, doesn’t burn enough calories to be considered exercise. This is where exercising everyday could really help. And help maintain the weight off. It would also align with a destination-less life.
I was at the ATM the other day and an elderly woman stepped up to the adjacent ATM. Making small talk, I said, “It’s chilly out here.” She said, “Not for me, I just walked up the hill.” She must live in the neighborhood about a mile downhill from the ATM. She continued, “I’m 90 and some of these 60 year olds can’t do half of what I can do.” I replied, “You look damn good for 90!” I wasn’t trying to hit on her, and she understood. “You gotta keep moving.”, she said. We had forgotten about our ATM machines and the person in line was starting to get a little impatient. Oops, lol.
You gotta keep moving. She was performing without purpose. Maybe the purpose is to keep performing. Let that spin circles in your head…
A year ago, in “Destination-Less Life” (version 1.0); I talked about integrating more destination-less life habits. Even though I still wake up early everyday, some things haven’t gotten to seven days a week, just yet. Exercising has gotten to six lately, and writing has increased to more than one. I would like to get both of those to seven.

Newsletter #6 has been edited. You just read its update.
MotoAmerica is at Circuit of the Americas in Austin, TX, March 28th-30th. MotoGP will be there, but we already know who’s going to win, so it doesn’t really matter.
Finally had some time today to weld the hybrid SP1/2 header. However, it is not fully welded yet. That is the thinnest metal I have ever welded! Most of the time was spent finding settings, setup and techniques that wouldn’t burn a hole or cause a cold mountain. Although settings, setup and techniques have been sorted for the next available time slot.

I had to throw a picture in here somewhere, because words without a picture is tough reading.
