There's a better place.
The streets are for comfort.

I’ve gotten to the point in my life where I don’t desire the latest and greatest sports car for the streets anymore. And losing the desire for newer and older sports cars, for the streets also. It just seems like a waste. Example, Corvette’s new 2025 ZR1 with just over 1,000 horsepower. If a 2025 ZR1 is pocket change to you and driving it on the streets is what you want to do. Then go ahead. But if you got that kind of money, then why not hire a trailer and pit crew and get the full experience of that car on track. Otherwise you are just going to lose your license, or worse. If you can drive it within the law set for the streets, what a waste of a car.

You can probably get your license taken away in a Geo Metro, by seeing how fast you can get it to go around corners. Think you can’t get a ticket for accelerating too hard in a Geo Metro? Try doing that in a school zone with kids walking around. My point is, you don’t need horsepower to get your license suspended. Horsepower just allows you to get your license suspended faster.
I’ve had enough track time to understand that, “There is a better place”.
Since you can only out accelerate grandma to the next red light in your fancy sports car. Then there’s gotta be something else. The streets are about comfort, I’m beginning to realize. You can’t go fast, so you might as well get comfortable. Wouldn’t it be fun to trail-brake your family members to the apex and blast out the corner in your high horsepower sedan? Yes! Is it smart? No. Getting you and your loved ones to your destination safely and comfortingly is what the streets are about.
But you still like going fast. There’s a better place, it’s called a racetrack. Where going fast is not only allowed, it’s encouraged.
If you can’t afford to go to the track, then you can’t afford a ticket either. And if you can afford to go to the track, getting a ticket eats into your track money. So there’s no need for a sports car on the streets in my opinion. I say this with a feeling of knowing I’ve discovered the truth, but not liking it.
Where do I go from here? Because I like working on my driving techniques while street driving. For me, a comfortable vehicle on the streets is a truck. It means working on those first and last five percents even though there’s enough grip to do it abruptly.
